Hemorrhoids or Piles are one of the most common and troublesome anorectal pathologies to be seen in Proctology, where patients complain of some sort of mass per rectum, pain, or bleeding while defecation.
Hemorrhoids are a protrusion of the hemorrhoidal plexus of veins along with the submucosa which is seen and felt by the patient and may be associated with bleeding.
Though there are many treatment modalities available today, the conservative line of medicaments holds best in the first-degree and second-degree hemorrhoids, and third and fourth-degree require surgical intervention. In Ayurveda, an elaborate description of Kshara Karma has been described by Acharya Sushruta. Kshara Karma practiced today, is a direct result of the methods refined by Dr. Ravishankar Pervaje and is popularly called “Ravishankar Pervaje’s Technique” for Kshara Karma in Arhsas.
Here the Pile masses are identified and Teekshna Pratisaaraneeya Kshara is applied over them till they attain the colour of “Pakwa Jambu Phala Varna”
The Pile mass Sloughs off and heals with a scar by 3 weeks time and the possibility of recurrence is minimal.
Medicines are prescribed by the doctor after a thorough examination of the patient. Treatments must be done under the supervision or advice of a certified Ayurvedic Doctor and not based on self-judgment.
